Please pray for St. John’s mission trip to Uganda, June 30-July 15, 2014
Please pray for St. John’s MISSION+UGANDA
June 30 to July 15, 2014
On July 1, twelve persons representing St. John’s will depart on a 16 day mission trip to Uganda to continue the Christian outreach to the Batwa pygmies begun by Dr. Scott and Carol Kellermann. We are a diverse group that includes two rectors (Fr. Houk and Fr. Corley) and four eager teenagers. We have written heartfelt letters to family and friends asking for their prayers and financial support.
We need lots of prayer and lots of support on this first mission trip our parish has organized. With your help, we can accomplish our goals:
- building a mud home for a Batwa family
- renovating a school
- providing much needed school supplies for Batwa students
- purchasing “nappies” for San yu Babies Home
- defraying the cost of the missioners’ travel expenses.
The cost to build a mud home is currently $1,400. Round trip airfare is $2,040 per person. Lodging in Bwindi is $40 a day. Other expenses include room and board in Kampala and the costs of drivers and gasoline, $7.04 a gallon!
This mission involves the entire parish connecting with the Batwa and our fellow Anglicans in Africa. So will travel. Many will pray. All can connect. Please consider how you can use your time, talent, and treasure to make the mission a reality. Contact Jim and Cindy Waits to get involved.
