The fifth commandment is the first command with a promise: that all may go well and that we may live long in the land the Lord our God is giving to us. Following this commandment is necessary for full and rich life with God. But what does this commandment include? What obligations do parents have in return? And what hope do we have if we have been negligent in our duties?
