On the night before he faced the cross, Jesus put everything into the Father’s hands, inlcuding us. Our lukewarm attitude to prayer might be overcome if we put everything in God's hands as well.
How was it that the Church’s stock went up after their charismatic leader, Jesus, exited the scene at his ascension? It was only through the power, wisdom, direction, and words given by the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, that the Church had a chance. And it is the same Holy Spirit who makes the impossible possible today.
It may still be Easter Season, but when tragedy strikes it seems nearly impossible to remember the significance of this triumphal season. Our readings on Good Shepherd Sunday remind us that no matter what difficulties may lie in our path, our risen Lord is indeed a Shepherd in which we can place all our trust.
