Holy Land Pilgrimage, 2011

Pilgrimage1

Since leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in  November 2009, many have asked me, “When are you going back?” I’m happy to announce that the next trip is scheduled for  November 2–14, 2011.

Those who accompanied me last time know how my love of the Bible, coupled with my experiences of studying and living in Israel and the West Bank in the 1990’s, makes leading a Holy Land pilgrimage something I throw myself into with an enthusiastic heart. Since the 2009 trip, I have landed upon Connoisseurs Tours, a ministry headed up by Kathryn Waller and my friend Nara Duncan, the wife of Archbishop Robert Duncan. Connoisseurs Tours provides trips that are designed to be spiritual in focus, with the dual aim of economy in price and comfort in traveling. They have an excellent reputation for giving their clients comprehensive care through every step of the journey, from the moment they pick up the phone until they return home.

Petra_2The 2011 pilgrimage has a different itinerary from the last trip. This time we will venture into Jordan to see Mt. Nebo, Jerash, the place of Jesus’ baptism on the Jordan River, and Petra—an amazing site for all who have experienced it. We will still see all the places in Israel/Palestine that are central to our faith: the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Caesarea Philippi, Mt. Tabor, Bethlehem, and of course, Jerusalem, where we will have our longest stay, based at a wonderful hotel just outside the walls of the Old City. Click here to see a full brochure.

The cost of this ten-day pilgrimage is $2,699.00 per person, not including airfare. (Connoisseurs Tours will provide a group air schedule with the lowest fare and most convenient schedule for us.) Once one arrives in Tel Aviv everything is included—all meals, entrances, transportation, lectures, and features. The only out-of-pocket expenses not covered are the optional tips for drivers and guides.

Pilgrimage_3Please call Kathryn Waller at 1-800-856-1045 to register or request a brochure. The places are limited and will go quickly! You can also feel free to phone or email me with any questions.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. David Houk

Rector of St. John’s, Dallas
