Going the extra mile in the King’s Business( Fr. John Thorpe)

February 19, 2017 Matthew 5:38-48 The Persian postal system was the fastest communication system in the world until electricity came along; but it also gave the Romans the idea of forcing citizens to help carry soldiers’ burdens.

Jesus uses this idea in the Sermon on the Mount to show how God’s purposes may not always be to directly oppose oppression or offense, but rather to make His Gospel message known even within and despite injustice.
