About In-Person Worship

As St. John’s resumes congregational worship, here are the details you need to know.

Do I need to RSVP?
Yes. Please RSVP below to let us know whether you plan on attending the 9:00 Eucharist. If after RSVPing you find that you cannot attend, kindly update your RSVP.

RSVP for 9am

Do I need to wear a mask?
Yes. We ask that all parishioners older than 2 years-old wear a mask when they are in the building for their safety and the safety of others.

Where will I sit?
Ushers will direct you to a pew and seat you in way appropriately distanced from other worshipers.

Will nursery be available?
As always, children of all ages are welcome in every worship service. Due to social distancing requirements, the nursery will not be available at this time.

Will you pass the offering plate?
The offering plate will not be passed in the pew but will rather be placed on the credence table in the Baptistery. You can make your contribute when you enter or exit the church.

Will there be a procession?
To avoid close contact, there will not be processions in or out, or a Gospel procession at this time.

Will there be communion?
Yes. Communion will be distributed according to Bp. Sumner’s directive. Hosts will be consecrated in individual plastic bags and will be received in a self-serve manner with appropriate distancing. We will continue to offer only the consecrated Bread at this time.

Will there be singing?
For your safety, there will not be congregational singing, but we know you will enjoy hearing in person the beautiful music offered by our choir.

Will there be a worship bulletin?
Yes. The bulletin will contain the entire liturgy. As a precaution, all Bibles, Prayer Books, and Hymnals will be removed for your safety.

Will we pass the Peace?
As difficult as it will be, we ask that you not make physical contact during the Peace, except between family members. A nod and a smile will go a long way these days.

Will the clergy be shaking hands and greeting us as we leave the service?
Clergy will be present in the outside of the church following the liturgy. They will observe social distancing and while greeting you.

Will there be coffee hour following??
Not at this time. Also, please resist the temptation to gather in the narthex or other common areas. We know it will be difficult. It will be for us as well.

Will there be hand sanitizer available?
Yes. Hand sanitizer stations are available in the narthex. We encourage you to use them as often as you feel necessary.

Will you clean in between worship services?
Yes. Our Spray and Pray team will wipe down all surfaces and sanitizes common spaces following each service.

Will restrooms be available for use?
Yes. The bathroom in the bride’s room will be available for the services.
