Director of Children and Family Ministry — open position

St. John’s seeks a part-time Director of Children and Family Ministry who will develop, coordinate, and implement Christian formation materials to children, birth through fifth grade, while also supporting and equipping parents to be the primary disciplers of their children. HOURS/WEEK         12 hours per week
Classification             Part-time, Non-Exempt
Compensation           $20/hour


  • A mature Christian faith and ability to share the Good News of God in Jesus Christ
  • A natural teacher, who is also able to instruct and teach others who will be instructing children
  • An ability to recruit, organize, and train volunteers; a self-starter
  • Approachability, positivity, and an ability to meet deadlines
  • College degree preferred


Apart from attending the weekly staff meetings on Tuesday morning (presently at 10:00 am) the Children and Families Minister will

  • Provide vision and leadership for a scripturally based children’s ministry program
  • Oversee the nursery and supervise the Nursery Director
  • Evaluate new curriculum as needed
  • Administer the September through May children’s Sunday School program
  • Recruit, equip, train, and inspire volunteers
  • Background check and educate all adults on protocol when working with children
  • Organize and oversee the Faith-Filled-Families program
  • Advance CFM initiatives through promotion, invitation, and personal conversations
  • Serve as a pastor to parents raising children
  • Direct the annual Vacation Bible School
  • Organize the Christmas pageant and children’s formation components for other annual programs (ex. Advent Wednesday and Lenten Fridays)
